The Keys to the Kingdom
As you may have noticed, we place high importance on respiratory health. I want to share a little on that subject and also share my experience with respiratory health.
Our breathing accounts for about 80% of our energy and also about 80% of our detoxification. It is super important, and most of our illness stems from poor respiration.
WOW!
What we also don’t realize is that the digestive process only accounts for about 15% of each of these.
I like to eat! In fact, my first word as a child was cookie! But it wasn’t until I practiced fasting that I understood and experienced the relationship between energy from food and breath. It was profound!
I am not suggesting here to immediately start fasting because it must be done correctly and carefully, but we will prepare for these deep and meaningful practices as we walk down the path together.
What’s also important to note is that a regular pranayama practice and deep breathing keeps all systems of the body healthy, in particular, the lymphatic system. Increased diaphragmatic movement stimulates one of the largest lymphatic ducts in our body, the thoracic duct. By stimulating this duct and other parts of the lymphatic system, it acts as a pump, expelling toxins and metabolic waste material.
Practicing Pranayama while in nature can be of benefit, especially on the beach by the ocean, where you are breathing in the negative ions from the water. Please be aware when practicing in a major city. The air might be heavily polluted and thus cause the lungs to be restricted in expansion as a protective mechanism. Being amongst nature or the utilization of an air purifier in your home is best.
The breath is like a key that unlocks doors I didn’t even know existed. It is a creator of space, a direct line to the subconscious, a giver of health, a tool that pierces the veil of ignorance and a connection to the innermost self. It is so powerful and profound that words cannot describe it!
I look forward to sharing my experience with all of you and walking with you on your path to a healthy and robust respiratory system.
